SOLVED: KDE/Plasma: seeing everything in double after update

Hi

after a recent update (now on Qt 5.9.1, Frameworks 5.36.0 and Plasma 5.10.4) I get multiple breakage and weird artefacts in KDE/Plasma:

- when displaying the grid: every window on every workspace is shown double
- the button in the upper left corner (show desktop. add widgets, activities) is also doubled, when I move it, widgets disappear
- panel behavior is also different; I use it with auto-hide, and it shows now somewhat delayed or not at all when pointed at
- widgets on the desktop (digital clock) disappeared

Thanks

Re: SOLVED: KDE/Plasma: seeing everything in double after update

The problem was related to the fact that I frequently change from the notebook display to an external display (both 4k, but with different scaling each).

External displays are unfortunately still a source of major annoyance with KDE.

In this case it would seem that I had two desktops displayed in superposition somehow.

I clicked once "unify outputs" in the "Display and Monitor" settings of settings manager and the problem disappeared and did not return upon reboot.

Thanks

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan
