Problems with alsamixer, Thunar, fonts and Taskmanager in a new Arch

Yesterday I have set up an Arch Linux (64bit) with xfce4 in a virtual machine (VirtualBox). I have an older installation of Arch (32bit), also running in a VM, which is working well. But it was time to switch to 64bits.
My problems with the new installation are:
1. I don’t get a sound, although I installed alsamixer. The graphical frontend is missing, also. I can start alsamixer in a terminal, but with Master and PCM at full values I don’t hear any sound.
2. In Thunar 1.6.12 under devices I get 7 times my mounted external devices. How can I remove the 6 redundant entries?
3. The fonts are a little bit fatter than in my old Arch, although I use the same settings. Why?
4. When starting the Taskmanager in my 32bit Arch I get a symbol in the right corner of my menu bar. When I hover with the mouse over this symbol I get the number of processes, CPU %, RAM % and SWAP %. This is missing in my 64bit Arch. How do I get this in my new Arch?

Are the channels in alsamixer muted?

When I start alsamixer in the terminal it has MM under the bar. So I pressed m and it shows 00. I did this for Master and PCM. still no sound.

00 means that it is now unmuted, you just need to increase the volume using the arrow keys.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

That's what I have done. In my old Arch it works with Master and PCM on. But I have this graphical window that I don't get in my new 64bit Arch.

Whoops, I didn't realise that this was a omnibus thread or else I could have would have also asked you to create one thread per issue. The link I directed you to does cover this, however, but perhaps you didn't read that far. Please take this opportunity to read through the full Code of Conduct.
