Tuxedo XUX707 - starts multiple screens at start of Desktop Enviroment

Hi,
I have updated my ArchLinux yesterday. After i rebooted it I get 4 screens or 4 workspaces side by side on my screen. Each of them is very small, so that I cant work with them. Firstly I didn't wanted to reinstall everything from scratch. So I reinstalled some parts of the System with "pacman -Syu base base-devel" and "pacman -Syu sddm". But it doesn't help. I still see the four screens or workspaces side by side at the start of the DE. I haven't discovered the software that is responsible for this. So that you guys know what I mean with 4 screens or workspaces here is a picture of my screen at the start of the DE. Picture of the screen. So I would be happy if anyone can help me with this problem, or has suggestions what to do next.
Please excuse my bad english. I am not a native english speaker.

Thanks in advance

Some details to the System:
It is a 64-bit system but with multilib support
Xorg and Wayland are installed
Display Manger: SDDM
DE: KDE 5

Re: Tuxedo XUX707 - starts multiple screens at start of Desktop Enviroment

Can you change to a different console using Ctrl-Alt-F2 ?
I assume you are using some sort of display manager -- probably kdm?

Edit:  Or, sddm now that I reread your post wink
BTW, Welcome to Arch Linux

Re: Tuxedo XUX707 - starts multiple screens at start of Desktop Enviroment

Hi,
if I want to change to a different console and press Ctrl-Alt-F2 nothing happens. I believe it is maybe sddm or systemd, but both got reinstalled with the commands above. So maybe a config file from one of these could be reponsible. I'll check this but not today. Bye the way I am using Arch Linux for years now but something like this has never happend to me.

P.S.: I have updated my first post and corrected some spelling mistakes.

Re: Tuxedo XUX707 - starts multiple screens at start of Desktop Enviroment

I disabled the display manger and changing the console works now. At least this works and I can say it seems to be not sddm or something that starts after. Moreover I cannot find any unusual comand's in my xorg.conf files. Furthermore if I start the laptop over a liveusb and change into the installed system the X-Server seems to work normaly, only that i can't see my cursor. But I have still not figured out what is causing this strange behavior.

If somebody is interested in my config files i have added them. Maybe somebody can see which command is likely to cause this.

Re: Tuxedo XUX707 - starts multiple screens at start of Desktop Enviroment

Hi,
the Laptop works with an external monitor connected. It seems that the internal screen and the external monitor are accessed over the same connector (hdmi connector). On my tv (external screen) everything from the laptop works. It looks like my laptop screen (internal screen) doesn't send a correct edid. But my tv (external screen) does this and therefore it works. How do I correct this?

Re: Tuxedo XUX707 - starts multiple screens at start of Desktop Enviroment

Hi,
I have found what was causing the problem. I forgot that I had a line in my Grub config file that loaded a EDID, the wrong EDID. After I removed this line nearly everything went back to normal. Now all that is left that i have to look after a way to get my screen resolution back. From a 4k resolution to a 1080p resolution.
Thanks for your help.

Best Regards
sreaver

EDIT: I had just to scale the display. That worked just fine for me. So now is everything solved.

PS: How do I mark this thread as solved?
