Text "shaking", graphics artifacts

Hello,
I have arch linux kernel 4.10.11 x86_64, I'm using chrome, and when I scroll up or down, the text "shakes" (vertically only), it also happen for pictures.
I'm using Deepin DE 15.4, but it occurs on Gnome too. I have an AMD RX 460 and xf86-video-amdgpu installed (it's only for 2d acceleration AFAIK though)
Also, I sometimes have graphics glitches or artifacts when doing random things like resizing console. It very rarely happen on Windows.

(I don't know if I have to do another post for this, but I have another issue: scroll speed is really small, and I don't find anything to change it in deepin)
Thanks for help

Why are you using such an ancient kernel? 4.10.11 was released on April, and even the 4.10 series reached end-of-line 3 months ago.

Update your system and report back if the problem persists.

Re: Text "shaking", graphics artifacts

Can you make a video to illustrate the "shaking" text?
I can imagine that this is either due to the input driver (wheel? touchpad? tried using a scrollbar?) or the framebuffer (eg. sending the wrong buffer to front in case of triple buffering) but it would be good to see what this "shaking" looks like.
Is gnome gnome on wayland, gnome on xorg or does it happen on both?

In the second part if you look closely you can see the shaking text
I don't know if gnome was on wayland or xorg, It was just labelled "Gnome"
Bug occurs too when using the scrollbar, I'm usually using mouse wheel

Also, I don't know if this will be helpful, but when booting I have an "error" line: Something like "Invalid PCI header, expecting 0xaa55, got 0xff"

Re: Text "shaking", graphics artifacts

Framebuffer. Try with an uncomposited system (openbox) and the "Xorg ./. wayland" question becomes crucial.

Re: Text "shaking", graphics artifacts

I don't know, the options I had was "Gnome", "Gnome", "Gnome classic", and "Gnome on Xorg"
Bug was happening on Gnome, and Gnome on Xorg.
Also, I installed openbox and used it... and got stuck. How am I supposed to launch apps ? Super does nothing

Re: Text "shaking", graphics artifacts

One method is to right click to get an application menu.  This is covered in the Openbox Wiki

Re: Text "shaking", graphics artifacts

Does this happen with *any* application or just chrome? (chromium?) Try eg. dillo (another browser, don't worry about most interwebz pages looking weird ;-)
Does it happen w/ other gtk3 based applications?
Does it happen if you disable hardware acceleration or smooth scrolling in "about:flags"?

Re: Text "shaking", graphics artifacts

1/ Looks like it happens with lots of applications (bug occurs on mattermost) but not dillo
2/ Don't know, I can't find which app use gtk3 as dependency...
Edit: Looks like my DE deepin has gtk3 as dependency, and it has artefacts
3/ Forgot telling something, I have a SmoothScroll extension on Chrome (remember the scroll size problem ?)
So, when deactivating hardware acceleration & smoothscroll extension, I still have some artefacts but it becomes rare
When deactivating chrome's smooth scroll, looks like I have no artefacts

Re: Text "shaking", graphics artifacts

You can either check the dependencies of the package or ldd the binary to see whether it links gtk3 (I frankly don't see where "mattermost" is a GUI application?)

Re: Text "shaking", graphics artifacts

Yeah, but I found a better solution: pacman -Sii dependency
And yes, it's a GUI app: https://github.com/mattermost/platform
