Hi there,
after upgrading from 5.2.7 to 5.3.4, I encountered the application to start but then showing screen flickering and artifacts. Actions like opening a file let libreoffice crash.
I then downgraded to 5.2.7 and everything was ok again.
I upgraded to 5.3.5 when it was rolled out and encountered the same problems as with 5.3.4.
After renaming ~/.config/libreoffice and starting the application again, everything was fine. After some research I found, that the difference caused by this action was, that OpenGL is disabled. So I tried to enable it agein (ignore blacklist off all the time) and the problems occured again.
Some words to my hardware: AMD FX 8370, 32 GB DDR3 1866, AMD R7 360 with amdgpu drivers.
No AUR versions of any related software installed.
So my question is: did I miss something? Is there any way to run libreoffice with OpenGL enabled? Or is this a bug, I should report upstream?
Thx in advance,
Nightwulf

1. 5.4.0.3 version here
No problems with graphics acceleration.
In my case and version, everything is working fine, but I had many bugs some time ago...
2. this bug that you reported here is very popular, since 1-2 years in LibreOffice it`s very common.
3. some workarounds:
Please notice that LO is always working fine with wine. If will have really big problems, you can always try LibreOffice portable for Windows + wine.
Downgrade is always solution. Just downgrade your LO and wait some time. For example half year.
4. Tools > options > preferences > Libreoffice > View
graphics output:
try experiment here (uncheck "use hardware acceleration")
5. you can try diffrent GUI frameworks, for example: GTK2, QT...:

6. "Or is this a bug, I should report upstream?"
IMHO, if you want help to improve opensource software --> YES.
But first try with newest version.

Thx for your input, collector1871. LibreOffice has been very stable here for years now.
Regarding your point 4. I have to clear up, that there is no issue with hardware acceleration. This setting has been to "on" all the time. Only OpenGL causes problems here.
I filed a bug upstream for this issue: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/sho … ?id=111412
