on suspend to ram and wireless powermanagement

iwconfig has the "power" command wich with the "on" command turns it on.  However, it appears that what this does is disconnect me from the network. 

Can someone explain this to me?  I thought it was supposed to save power not disconnect me. 

About suspend to ram, I still have not found an updated guide on how to do it. I followed a guide I found on the arch wiki but it could not even boot.  Can anyone tell me how to do suspend to ram or point me in the right direction?

I'm sorry if I sound a bit rude but I think we have to do something about the documentation on this distribution.  Arch is a truly great distribution.  The only things that are killing it is the lack of documentation and how to's.
