I am using cfdisk within xfce4-terminal. Pressing the backspace key when setting the partition size prints ^? in the line. You can see it in the clip below I recorded.
Does anyone know why this is happening? If not, what is the culprit for this so I can report the bug (xfce4-terminal, cfdisk, ncurses...)?
http://webm.land/media/T14S.webm
xfce4-terminal 0.8.6-1
cfdisk from util-linux 2.30.1-2
ncurses 6.0+20170527-1
EDIT:
I tested it with another terminal emulator — lxterminal. It has the same problem, so I guess I can rule out xfce4-terminal as the culprit.
I tested it with xterm and it's not happening with it. Now I'm even more confused. Does anyone have any hints what could be causing it in xfce4-terminal and lxterminal, but not with xterm?
Deleting it with the Delete key works, but it also used to work with the backspace key.
Downgrading util-linux to 2.29.2-2 fixes this. I am not sure if this is just util-linux's problem, because xterm works, but I reported the bug here:
https://github.com/karelzak/util-linux/issues/499
It turned out to be a cfdisk problem (from the util-linux package). It was fixed upstream here.
