How to fix xwinwrap or alternative to have videos as background?

So I have tried to get xwinwrap to work with xfce, but I have multiple issues:

First, I cannot get it to launch at startup,

Second, no matter the command that I use (&, nohup, disown or any combination of them) seems to be able to detach the process from the terminal.

Thirdly, It is very buggy, sometimes my applications disappear behind the "wallpaper" sometimes it stops playing and just freezes the active workspace (not switching, switching can still eb done easily)

Fourth even if I get all other things to work, it will occlude the desktop icons (I know this one is unavoidable but still :| )

I just want a mov or mp4 video playing in a loop behind everything as my desktop background, for no other reason than I think it looks cool. Can anyone think of a way to accomplish this? Worst case scenario I am ready to modify a desktop environment if I have to :P
