Trying to get sound working for multiple programs at once (and working at all for flash), I set up oss2jack per the instructions on the wiki. Now sound doesn't work at all. I notice that the device /dev/dsp isn't created, and also if i do '/etc/rc.d/oss2jack stop' it says '[FAIL]'. I've read all the related threads I could find but none of them seem to have anything that helps.

shutting down oss2jack should be fixed now in a new package rel in AUR.
About the other problems: Have you updated recently?

do you have kfusd loaded? lsmod|grep kfusd

Ah, no I don't. That could be the problem then.

I think I'll give up on it for now - I got it to work only if I stopped and started the daemons after boot, and even then it was very bad quality sound. I think I'll try the dmix solution for now.
With regards to the fail on stopping oss2jack, now it can stop but it can't restart (stops it but doesn't try to start it again).

oh lord, i suck with these initscripts... I'll make a help-post.
if you go with the dmix solution you can put aoss inside the firefox start script i think, so atleast that will take care of the firefox problem i think. Or you could try joss(detailed in the same wiki as oss2jack on the arch website).
