I have a fresh install of arch with the 2.6.17.3-1 and 2.6.17ck1-2 kernels. I installed arch, copied the xorg.conf that I used before, and X will not start.
The error is that it cannot load the 'radeon' module. So, I manually loaded it with 'modprobe radeon'. I checked with lsmod and it was loaded fine. X still will not start and is still complaining that it cannot load the 'radeon' module.
I am not sure what else to check. I tried it with both kernels. I also was going to try it with an older kernel (2.6.16) but the modules were removed by pacman so that was a no go.
Any ideas on what I can do next to figure out what the problem is? I don't have any hotplug/coldplug/anything installed because I thought udev handled it magically.
Let me know if you need any more information, thanks in advance. I can post my xorg.conf, but it was a working config and I don't think that is the issue here.

Do you have xf86-video-ati installed? If not, install it.
