Android tethering

When I connect my Android 4.2.1 phone to my computer using the USB cable set to USB storage, sometimes it shows up on the PC as usb0 and sometimes as enp?s??u?.

If it shows as usb0 I am not able to tether the phone.

I am following the instructions at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/android_tethering and using

$ ip link
$ dhcpcd usb0/enp?s??u?

My questions are:

1) Why the different connection
2) How can I force the enp?s??u? connection
