Why Archlinux does not ship xfce-polkit?

According to this page https://alternativeto.net/tag/xfce-project, (linked from https://wiki.xfce.org/recommendedapps), xfce-polkit is the policykit recommended by Xfce and is part of Xfce. While this package is available in the AUR, the default archlinux xfce4-session package requires polkit-gnome instead. While this setup works well for me, I wonder what is the motivation behind this? Is there any reason Archlinux does not stick with the "default" xfce implementation?

Re: Why Archlinux does not ship xfce-polkit?

Lacking interest from the TU or Developer team to bring it to community? Considering gnome-polkit works without issue (and gtk3 is a dependency of libxfce4ui anyway), that would be unsurprising.

edit: with only 6 votes on AUR, there's not much user interest either, considering the popularity of XFCE itself.

@Alad - XFCE is #3 nearly as popular as the top two: https://www.archlinux.de/statistics/fun

Which supports his point.  "considering the popularity of XFCE itself" = considering that XFCE is one of the most popular DEs, one would expect an enormous number of votes for the AUR package if it served an important purpose in XFCE; therefore the AUR package does not seem important for XFCE.

Re: Why Archlinux does not ship xfce-polkit?

Archlinux ship polkit-gnome which is a dependency of xfce4-session. I would guess that nobody votes for xfce-polkit because polkit-gnome works well and serves the same purpose.

But the general policy of Archlinux is to ship "vanilla" packages. It this order of idea, it would seem more logical to ship xfce-polkit, which is part of Xfce itself. Moreover "polkit-gnome" is described as "legacy" in its description. Replacing an upstream package by a legacy version from another desktop does not fit well with the general policy of Archlinux, even, if it works well. Unless of course there is a specific reason, which is why I ask.

Re: Why Archlinux does not ship xfce-polkit?

The reason is probably that polkit-gnome is in the repository anyways since it is useful if you run a gtk system without any desktop environment. xfce-polkit has an additional dependency on some xfce libraries. Both projects are practically feature complete and have not changed since 2015, so there is really no need for another tool that provides the same thing.

Legacy only means that gnome-shell doesn't use it anymore, not htat the project is dead. You could probably call it the de-facto standard for gtk3, with only the mate fork as an alternative.
