Compress and uncompress AppImage files

as i understand the appimage files arent fully installed programs but rather local bubbles that are running with simulation just like windows games and wine on a linux machine. is there an app that can compress and uncompress the contents of an appimage file, in order to tweak the code?? lets say we have the stremio app for example, the new beta stremio 4 is within an appimage, is there a way to extract the compressed folder that lies within the .appimage file?
