DSA and swconfig Resources

I am looking for pointers to documentation here.

At $DAYJOB, we are looking to build a device that is to have an integrated 24 port level 2 managed Ethernet switch with some level 3 capability (QoS, DHCP relay, unicast).  There is a Linux computer in this system with a Gb link to the switch. We will be providing features such as firewalls in the Linux box.  We think we want to use DSA (Distributed Switch Architecture) to use VLANS back to the Linux box which can provide NAT and bridging between the VLANs.  The plan is also to use SNMP to manage the switch using standard MIBs.

I read this article https://www.netdevconf.org/2.1/papers/d … ecture.pdf (Warning pdf) and found it informative.  I have also seen the LWN Blog: https://lwn.net/Articles/720313/  What I am missing is good documentation for DSA and the swconfig[1] kernel modules (beyond the intrinsic kernel documentation which seems to assume a level of knowledge that exceeds my current state).  Any of you network gurus out there have any good documentation you can point me at. Specifically about controlling managed switches from Linux.

[1] not to be confused with the command swconfig whoose man page is swconfig(1M).  Here I refer to  the OpenWRT project's switch configuration efforts.
