Cannot mount usb once i make it a liveusb

I've been going through usbs recently like plastic forks, using them once before corrupting them somehow. I made a liveusb to install arch on a desktop, and then put my usb away for a few weeks. Now when i wanted to make a new liveusb, i try to mount the usb on my computer so i can write a new iso to it. However it isn't showing in lsblk only in lsusb. Here are the outputs:

lsusb -v -s 001:015

Then here is my lsblk, where sda is my computer. The usb should show as sdb

lsblk

NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda 8:0 0 465.8G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 228.9G 0 part /
├─sda2 8:2 0 8G 0 part [SWAP]
└─sda3 8:3 0 228.9G 0 part /home

I have been using rufus to create window liveusbs and dd to create linux liveusbs.
Is there any way to force a usb to become recognizable to mount?

Re: Cannot mount usb once i make it a liveusb

use mintstick from AUR or rosa image writer http://wiki.rosalab.ru/en/index.php/ROS … take_it.3F to create your bootable usb or to format

mintstick-git comes with formatter and writer. use the formatter to format a usb stick and writer to make a live distro
rosa image writer has the same make bootable live usb but also has a CLEAR option which deletes the bootsector and makes it so that gparted or gnome-disks will able to format

OR in gparted select your usb and under device tab, create partition table then you will be able to format

Re: Cannot mount usb once i make it a liveusb

@trytipARCH: While you neither need nor should mount a device to write an ISO, he doesn't get the block device to begin with.

@powerOfSilence:
"can't get debug descriptor: Resource temporarily unavailable" - bad line. Run "dmesg -w", plug the key and see what the kernel says about it. There'll certainly be some error messages.
Did you try the key on another system to confirm you didn't just simply kept it a bit too close to your fireplace? (that's unfortunately no joke ... ;-)
