I just installed Arch and all seems to be working well with the exception of k3b. After some checking in this forum, the wiki and Google. It seems that there is a k3bsetup file that must be used before CD burning can take place. All attempts to use kde3setup have been unsuccessful.
My first attempt to solve the problem was to use # pacman -S k3b --force. After the application was on my system I executed it and it confirmed that I needed a file called kdesu. I was unable to use pacman to secure the file directly. Does this mean that I have to download the whole KDE base in order to get this file or is there somwhere else I can get it?

Far as I know, kdebase is the only way to get kdesu.
Correct me if I'm wrong....It's happened before.

An alternative: Download and configure sudo and run sudo k3bsetup from a terminal.
Another alternative: Login as root in X and run k3bsetup

I tried logging in as root and then performing the setup program but that did not work.
I finally downloaded KDE-base and then I was able to run the setup routine.
Thanks for your help.

If you're concerned with the huge kde dependencies, take a look at graveman. Not as elaborate as k3b but it gives you most of everything you need.
