I'm trying to jump into tensorflow on my Arch system, but I'm having some problems running tensorboard. I've installed tensorflow, tensorboard, and python-tensorflow from pacman (not pip or some other package manager). Has anyone else seen the following error:

pkg_resources.DistributionNotFound: The 'futures>=3.1.1' distribution was not found and is required by tensorflow-tensorboardtensorboard is a python3 package, but futures is a python2 package. The pypi page for tensorboard lists futures as a dependency without mention of python version. So, it could be an issue further upstream.
Short of editing the package or switching package managers, I'm not sure what is the best solution. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks,
C

If you don't want to muck up your system while trying various solutions then look into Python Virtual Environments. Those allow you to royally screw things up AND get rid of the screw up in a trivial way. Virtual Environments are isolated in your home folder so they don't muck with the rest of your file-system.

Hi I work on TensorBoard. We're in the process of seeing what we can do to improve this on our end. But it looks like the Arch community already has a sed fix out.

Yeah, it's included in the latest pacman package. I have it working now.
Thanks everyone,

And this pull request of mine has been merged: https://github.com/agronholm/pythonfutures/pull/67
So now this will *have* to be fixed upstream by all projects. ![]()
