No sound with Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio

I am unable to get my sound working with Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio (rev 21). It has been very frustrating trying to get this to work. I used 'asoundconf-gtk' to produce my .asoundrc file because I couldn't get things working but it didn't help from what I can tell. I followed the wiki for ALSA and have had no luck. Any help is much appreciated. Sound works on a Windows install I have dual booting with this one.

Hmm, this doesn't seem to have anything to do with your asoundrc/alsamixer settings. The kernel should show the (non-HDA) card in /proc/asound/cards, but it does not. Is the first time trying to get this soundcard working (i.e., it hasn't worked before)? Are your packages all up to date? It would also be nice to see the entire dmesg.

This is the first time trying to get the soundcard working (it has never worked before in Arch). The card works as expected when using Windows.

Apologies, I think I was misunderstanding earlier. My audio system is different. It also confuses me that usually, when seeing people with standard Intel HDA hardware, there are two separate "cards" recognized: One PCH for standard analog in/out and one for HDMI. For yours, it looks like there is only one card recognized. I could be missing something obvious still. It would be nice to see the output of the alsa-info.sh script from terminal, especially I am curious to see the aplay section.

I'm wondering if this is related to a recent kernel update. I'm having the same issue now (speaker output doesn't work but headphones do), but only after updating the kernel.

When the module snd_hda_codec_conexant autoprobes it detects 0 outputs of each type so exposes no outputs to alsa.
Perhaps someone more familiar with audio issues would be able to diagnose the cause.

If I was certain it was a kernel issue the next place to discus the issue would probably be one of the alsa mailing lists.

I believe an update to systemd ended up fixing the issue, because after updating the following packages: imagemagick-6.9.9.23-1  libsystemd-235.38-2 libvdpau-1.1.1+3+ga21bf7a-1  mesa-17.2.5-1  systemd-235.38-2 systemd-sysvcompat-235.38-2  tslib-1.14-1, my sound is now working.

I will test with the latest kernel next reboot.
