In the Nomachine NX client, there is an option called "Enable multimedia support". If I check this option, when I launch my session, I have a message like that :
Can't start audio server.
To use NX sound forwarding, please be sure that you have installed the following library :
/usr/lib/libaudiofile.so.0
Do you want to disable sound and continue ?
The file /usr/lib/libaudiofile.so.0 exist on my client and also on my server.
I use Arch linux with gnome and Nomachine NX client on my client and Arch with KDE and arch's official freenx packages on my server.
Does sound works for someone with freenx ?

Does the login account belong to the group 'audio'?

hey... got the same problem here... I'll try to investigate, would be nice if we could get it working...
ok, what I found until now is the following:
freenx depends on the aRTS sound daemon and archlinux doesn't have that installed... it's not even in the repo anymore... it was once, see: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/All … ing_system
So now it's just a matter of finding and installing it

I checked the log in ~/.nx/temp/<pid_of_nx_client>/svclog and found that libXcompsh.3 was missing. I grabbed the missing library from http://www.nomachine.com/ and found another file was missing.
So i just extracted the whole 'lib' dir from the nxclient tar from nomachines website to '/opt/NX/lib/' and now everything is working.
