Thunderbirds are not go!!!

I have been having problems with thunderbird when sending mail ...keeps asking me to check mail settings ...

Main email address works fine .... :?

I get mail but cannot send it .... just wanted to make sure its not my isp's fault before I go moaning (lol) to them.

It started playing up a couple of weeks ago did not do anything about because I thought it was isp problem..

Wondered if I should swap to something like sylpheed?

/me loves gmail

Re: Thunderbirds are not go!!!

An error occurred while sending mail FROM <email> does not match authenticated user name .Please verify your email address is correct in your Mail preferences & try again

everything looks ok but I still get the same error

Re: Thunderbirds are not go!!!

Have you set up multiple mailboxes on Thunderbird? For example, I have 2 e-mail accounts setup, each having a different user name. But -- I use the same outgoing SMTP server for both. So you might have a conflict if you setup different e-mail accounts that have different user names.

I would also try pine, mutt, or someother MUA as a test.

Are you using IMAP or POP incoming?

Re: Thunderbirds are not go!!!

It could also be because the imap/smtp-Server you're trying to connect to does only allow local (same subnet) connections. Just a thought...

Haven't been here in a while. Still rocking Arch. smile

Re: Thunderbirds are not go!!!

Just a guess, but I thinking that you have multiple SMTP setups for outgoing mail and that you may have misassociated the SMTP servers with the POP accounts.

Re: Thunderbirds are not go!!!

The message says all. You use SMTP authentication, but the sender address you use to send mail with doesn't match the account you used for SMTP authentication.

Re: Thunderbirds are not go!!!

I have changed any settings in Thunderbird for well years quite happily ran ok up until a couple of weeks ago....

Tried changing settings but nothing seems to work ...

Set up sylpheed-claws with multiple mailboxes works fine  :? although other than my main account they all pull into one box

Will check with my isp just in case, they may have changed set up...

Thanks for all your help ;-)
