A start job is running for One-Shot Network Time Service [SOLVED]

Hi,

My system fails to boot with the message in the subject.

It seems to occur when there is no network connectivity.

Here is the journal logs. You can see at 12:35 I pressed the power button because nothing was happening. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Yes, search the forums for the countless other threads with the exact same problem to find out how to edit your One-Shot whatever service.  Of just disable that service if you don't need it.

Please edit your post to remove the oversized image.

Re: A start job is running for One-Shot Network Time Service [SOLVED]

I've already searched and I found nothing relevant. I don't want to disable the service. What exactly am I editing? Why does the network time service cause my system to not boot when there is no network connection? Is this expected behaviour?

I highly doubt that. Within minutes of search I found these:

Edit the service file, whatever it is.  I have no idea what it is - my first guess would have been that it was something you created as I've never heard of it before.  At very least it is something you installed and enabled, so you should definitely know about it.

For the other questions, read the linked threads.

EDIT: it seems that's a ntp service, you may want to see this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ne … connection

Or, this is not a true Arch Linux installation and you are dealing with the consequences of some one else's stupidity for having trusted their fork.

Re: A start job is running for One-Shot Network Time Service [SOLVED]

Overmore I'd say this is a red herring, your problem is everyones present problem: SDDM is broken ...
Your system does absolutely not fail to boot, on the contrary.
=> Disable sddm.

I know technically this is not the case. I was describing a high level symptom.  SDDM makes sense, I will disable and see how that goes.

Thanks

Re: A start job is running for One-Shot Network Time Service [SOLVED]

Is this the bug
https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/905

Some posts suggest

sudo systemd-sysusers sddm.conf

fixes the problem

I disabled SDDM and that has fixed the problem.
