Blocked in boot

Hi,

I did a fresh install of Arch and tried to install Deepin as my desktop manager. However, after finishing the install and rebooting my machine, i'm stuck in the boot: http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/201 … -22-17.png

I followed this exact process to install Deepin, minus the deepin-extra: https://www.ostechnix.com/install-deepi … rch-linux/

What can I do as I don't have access to a terminal anymore ?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Blocked in boot

The image URL is 404. The image I get when I remove the trailing slash does not look like a Deepin error.

Moving to Newbie Corner as this isn't an installation issue.

Edit: BTW, the wiki has a guide for installing Deepin. Why didn't you follow that?

Re: Blocked in boot

In fact I used both this guide and the wiki. I'm still new to Arch and still more comfortable with "do this command at this time" guide.

Re: Blocked in boot

So you followed an unsupported guide and it ended badly.  Yup, sounds about right.

Did you use their guide to install your initial system too?

Can you change to another tty?  If no, boot the installation iso, mount and chroot into your system and disable lightdm and/or undo anything else you did.

Re: Blocked in boot

No, I used the official guide for initial setup. I have access to another tty with a root login. Thank you.

Re: Blocked in boot

Since copying and pasting from images is difficult, here is the error:

piix4_smbus 0000:00:07.3: SMBus Host Controller not enabled!

This looks to be in a virtual environment. What kind? VMWare or Virtualbox or something else?

Re: Blocked in boot

Maybe you need the vmware graphics drivers. The wiki has an article about installing arch as a vmware guest:

You know, that is the sort of thing you just might want to consider mentioning right up front.

Love how that guide tells you to just press enter to take the default libgl.  No, you don't have an nVidia card at all..  A perfect example of why anything but the official installation guide is just asking for problems which is why they're unsupported here.

Re: Blocked in boot

The installation guide on that sight concludes with:

umount /mnt
umount /mnt/home
reboot

While this error is harmless in the end, it shows that the author is either careless or incompetent, likely both.  So my faith in any other instruction they provide is non-existant.  But hey, they followed the wiki right?

Re: Blocked in boot

Let's not push our frustrations on the user asking for help, please. I'm sure they bear the greater frustration with things not working. Plus, they said they followed the blog post only for Deepin, and the error is unrelated to Deepin.

Re: Blocked in boot

I experienced a freeze approximately at the same place yesterday. I'm not sure what causes it but downgrading systemd and systemd-sysvcompat from version 235.38-2 to 235.38-1 seems to have solved it
