[SOLVED] Pacman frequently fails due to no space on disk

This seems dependent on how long I've been running without a reboot, but basically after a week or two, whenever I try to install packages, pacman fails with a message like

error: could not extract /usr/share/vim/vimfiles/syntax/cmake.vim (Can't create '/usr/share/vim/vimfiles/syntax/cmake.vim')

or

'no space on disk' messages

after trying to install the package, often corrupting the installed package in the process. When I go to the folder it tried to extract to, Dolphin shows plenty of space (1.8 GB of 11 GB for the partition just now).

Rebooting and installing again fixes the issue. But once I run long enough, it begins to assume I have no available space again.

I am unsure if this is a pacman issue or to do with the filesystem somehow. From /etc/fstab

/dev/nvme0n1p8          /               btrfs           rw,relatime,ssd,space_cache,subvolid=5,subvol=/ 0 0

Have you read this in btrfs FAQ?

That would explain it. Looks like there are no easy solutions for an 11 gb partition. What the hell.

Thanks.
