[SOLVED] gtk3 and gtk3-print-backends are in conflict

Attempting to update my system I get this error:

[sudo] password for ariq:
:: Synchronizing package databases...
 core is up to date
 extra is up to date
 community is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
:: Replace gtk3-print-backends with extra/gtk3? [Y/n] n
resolving dependencies...
looking for conflicting packages...
:: gtk3 and gtk3-print-backends are in conflict. Remove gtk3-print-backends? [y/N] n
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: gtk3 and gtk3-print-backends are in conflict
:: Starting AUR upgrade...
:: gtk3-print-backends is not present in AUR -- skipping
 there is nothing to do

Attempting to remove gtk3-print-backends gives me this error:

checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: gnome-settings-daemon: removing gtk3-print-backends breaks dependency 'gtk3-print-backends'

I need gnome-settings-daemon to satisfy another package (mutter, which is needed by budgie)

Attempting to remove gtk3 obviously breaks a lot of dependices but here is the output:

error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)

Re: [SOLVED] gtk3 and gtk3-print-backends are in conflict

Unless you have a good reason you should accept the default answer offered by pacman. What happens when you answer Y to the first question?

Re: [SOLVED] gtk3 and gtk3-print-backends are in conflict

Well, I didn't do it because I thought it would remove gtk3-print-backends...
What would happen if I said yes

Re: [SOLVED] gtk3 and gtk3-print-backends are in conflict

https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/pack … s/gtk3#n66

...
provides=(gtk3-print-backends)
...

The gtk3-print-backends are provided by gtk3 now, hence the replace.

Re: [SOLVED] gtk3 and gtk3-print-backends are in conflict

The gtk3-print-backends package has been merged into the gtk3 package. Pacman knows what it's doing smile
