Since upgrading to gnome 3.26.2, nautilus is no longer able to open files.
If I browse to say an mkv file, I will click it and the file will not open. All that happens is the nautilus window refreshes itself.
I also tried running xdg-open, gvfs-open and gio open against the file, but the same thing happens. The nautilus window I have open refreshes itself and no file opens.
If I open it with mpv it works. If I open it in thunar it works. If I log in with a different user then it works (with nautilus).
This happens with all files, including images. I can navigate directories fine though.
If I killall nautilus and then run it in a terminal, there is no output at all.
I tried resetting the gnome config using:
rm -rf .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity .cache .dbus .dmrc .mission-control .thumbnails ~/.config/dconf/user
and removing .config/nautilus
Neither of these have helped.
Anyone have any ideas?

Nautilus is likely registered as the default application for everything, follow https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GN … plications and the link to further information therein to figure out more.

Brilliant, thank you. I removed mimeapps.list and mimeinfo.cache from my home directory and it seems to be working again.
