Hello,
I've installed sound-juicer using pacman, and added my user into optical group, but when I try to play/extract a CD I get :
Error playing CD.
Reason: Could not open CD device for reading.
And that eveinf he correctly detected tracks on my CD giving the right title/duration/... in the Multi-select field.
I tryed to run it with sudo but I got the same issue ..
Does anybody know what happens?
Thx a lot

# gpasswd -a user optical
as root

Already done (anyway, if I would have been a problem of permission, I wouldn't have had any problem with sudo ..)

I get the same error on a 0.8 install. Followed the wiki, added user to optical group--nada. Can't play CD's as root either...

I have a feeling it has to do with hal. I got the same problem. If you run it from a terminal it complains about hal doing something. At the time I had hal running but didn't know you needed dbus. (So nothing worked.)
Maybe try running hal and dbus?

They are running (or supposed to at least :-)) since I use mt-daapd.
