Working to get it to work on kicker too...
And... i have found a bug... if you open some folders in tree view and activate a subfolder the animation is a bit off horizontally... I'll fix this soon, patch comes with kicker integration then.

I there any chance you could include this patch too (I'm starting to feel guilty of exploting you
)? What it does is explained here. I hope it could fix the problems I have with kwallet...
BTW: Just downloading the new packages with zooming folders or whatever it is. I will report my experiences soon.
[edit]: Awesome! It not only looks cool but it also gives visual feedback of what one's doing!

The new patch is very nice, but I do not actually notice any more changed than the animation upon opening the folder.
Is there any background magic?
And: There's going to be a 3.5.7 release? I wonder how long it will take to release KDE 4.0.0

afaik, the patch only does the nice start/open animation. and yes, there'll be a 3.5.7 release, some 2 months away, with new features (maybe this one ;-))
KDE 4? still at least 6 months off, i'd say.

Hehe, i think they will finish with 3.6.0 ![]()

3.6.0? I do not think so, the time for feature implementation has already ended as far as I know - or they are only backported from what current development is about. KDE4 was announced to be released early 2007 (I read it somewhere, so do not quote me on that), so this was not really the real thing. As long as they release it until the end of 07, no problem.
As long as I do not contribute to the KDE project I am not allowed to complain.

There has been a discussion going on on the kde-devel mailinglist about whether it is a good idea to focus all the efforts on KDE4 development. I don't expect a 3.6.0 release but if KDE4 toke really long it could happen.

The realese date hasn't been announced yet. KDE4 is still in a too early state of development. My guess is: first Alpha around Akademy, Beta at the end of 2007 and release in about a year from now.

I hope it goes faster. As many of the core tech might be finished within 3-6 months, and they could scale down on the application development, I hope for a release within 6-8 months...

I have problems with your testing-packages: kdm complains about widgets (?) and then exits. KDE itself complains about not being able to start kcminit...

How did you installed kdemod? (I hope by installing the kdemod group and then adding additional stuff...)
Does it work without the 2 new test-packages?
The test packages only have two additional patches applied, and they are pretty well written and small, so i dont think thats the reason...

Well i just finished kicker integration and got completely rid of flicker. The off by one bug with the treeview is fixed too.
Made it even a bit faster. So I am just waiting for funkyou to patch and rebuild *g* (Oh boy I am stressing your processor, aren't I?)
You can find the patch on kdelook.org now, look at http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=52994
Have fun

nice work, dunkelstern! i voted for it...
btw, is it that heavy on cpu (you mention 600+ mhz)? maybe have it as an option, if there is nothing to do about the cpu usage?

If you compare what modern desktops do, it's not really heavy on cpu, I use only a nearest neighbour scaling algorithm. and it utilizes the X Render Extension (qt does that automagically) for the transparency, so if you have correctly configured drivers it "should" be not very CPU intensive. But if you are on VESA mode the CPU has to do all work and that may be slow. I tested with heavily underclocked Laptop CPU (530 MHz in energy saving mode) and it stuttered a bit, but that may be because of other energy saving functions. On 600MHz it runs smoothly, below that I can't guarantee it (don't have such a slow machine here *g*) It's not just about the CPU usage, but you may say, that a machine that supports 600MHz has at least the performance that is needed (RAM speed counts a big value here)
You may turn off launch feedback completely if you want to disable it, but don't ask me where in kcontrol this is hidden *g*. I check for a configuration option at the beginning before the animation starts, this was already in the code.
Thanks for the vote ![]()

kdemod is great

What about making konqueror looks like this(an address bar in the same line as icons):

I must say I like kdemod ![]()

I think this can be done by applying this:

These are just defaults. You can modify your toolbar settings as you like them ![]()

I have only one toolbar on konqueror showing the stuff i want, the others are empty...

Do you think you could add:

To fix problems with kickoff and the domino theme.
