is there a way to get kopete to connect to jabber?
Offline
ATTENTION Kopete:
----------
The Kopete jabber module has been compiled with support for jingle...
To use Jabber, please install ortp, speex, glib2, libjingle and expat.
# pacman -S ortp glib2 expat speex libjingle
JABBER WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THESE PACKAGES !!!
YOU NEED THE LATEST ORTP FROM /COMMUNITY (CURRENTLY 0.13)
This version has experimental support for ortp versions higher than 0.7.1.
Please report any errors or bugs with jabber or jingle...
----------
The Kopete-Reloading-Kit is included. You can activate it in the prefs,
and themes are available in /opt/kde/share/apps/kopete/images/Oops, there is a small error in the install file at the repos (already fixed in svn), it doesnt tell you to install the latest ortp from community... Kopetes jabber support has been compiled with support for jingle and also includes a patch to make it work with the latest ortp packages, so you dont have to stick with ortp 0.7.1 if you want to use jingle...

Uhm...
"pacman -S amarok-base" will want to install kdelibs, qt, etcetera, even if I already have kdemod-kdelibs and qt-enhanced... or not?

ok ok.. call me picky but I think since kdemod has a new default background that it should have a new KDE Splash screen to go with it ![]()
btw.. started using kdemod last week and I love it! Keep up the fantastic work!

thx
yes i know, the artwork still needs to be done
do you have a proposal for a new splash?
well, i could make the "simple" splash the standard one, its ok for me...
i am also working slowly on a complete new default look, but its all a little bit tricky as i dont want to install more than whats really needed for kde... for a really good look, there have to be some new qt styles etc to be installed = extra packages, bigger install...
there is also the question if users would like this...(?) i mean, desktops are very subjective things ![]()

Will you mod kde4?

depends on how they package it when its final... Until now it seems that they are just re-organizing their packages without any further split-up, so a kde4mod is definitive possible. But we will see when its out...

The apps are not splitted in KDE4?
Have you tried to turn it off and on again?

Have you read somewhere that they would be?

They just reorganize their packages... For example, there will be only one editor left in kdebase instead of 3 ones (or 2, dont remember exactly) ... I dont think they will do a complete split of every app they provide, they just streamline their distribution, but dont take me too serious - its quite a long time until a final release will arrive

Jumped into kdemod ship last week. Thanks, funkyou, for your effort!

I've ditched KDE after 2.x came out, it just never felt right after that. KDE 3.x was way better but it still bothered me. I have been a WM-only/Gnome-Person for this time (and I doubt that this will change
). But just out of curiosity, I have tried KDEmod today and I have to say: this is KDE done right. A functional and minimal environment, just like it should be. Allthough KDE is already good in itself, just as Gnome, KDEmod added that little spice that made KDE usable even for a picky person like me.
Keep up the good work, funkyou. And don't hestitate to ask if you need help!
Todays mistakes are tomorrows catastrophes.

update
- fix for a possible javascript iframe crash in konqueror
- fix for a reboot issue with grub (missed this one the last time)
- fixes for konsole's pty handling
- konquerors viewmode icons can now also be grouped
- updated kima in kdemod-extra to 0.7
this is for i686 only, the update for x86_64 comes a little bit later... if you notice problems after updating, dont hesitate to report them here.
well, and thanks for all the feedback, this really motivates us ![]()
dunkelstern also did a great job by doing the 64bit packages, so if you didnt know until now: there is also a complete 64bit version of kdemod available...

Good morning,
I have got some problems with Kopete for some time now. Starting the program works very decent, but upon connecting, it's almost freezing and working extremely slow. The notifications pop up at the speed of a snail and I have to wait up to half a minute until everything is loaded and from then on is working quite decent. Is this issue known or is my machine making fun of me?
Hardware weakness is no explanation I assume, a Core2Duo E6300 with 2048 DDR2-800 RAM should be sufficient.

this could be related to a certain plugin, the statistics one if I recall this correctly. turn it off, and see what happens... I know a guy who has been profiling kopete lately, and increased speed by 40%, but with the statistics plugin, it's still bad.

Hello, first of all: a lot of thanks to funkyou for the kdemod stuff - works great!
Now, I have a "package request": would it be possible to add kpdf2 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/kpdf2/) to kdemod packages? It seems that one of the devs forked kpdf instead of adding the features (bookmarks, margin notes) to the original kpdf. Thanks.

Where can I find kscreensaver? I googled for it, but I couldn't find the kpackage containing it...

PS: Superkaramba should be rebuilt to work with the new python version. I succesfully built it using the official PKGBUILD (no need to modify it) three days ago.

Well, what about creating a PKGBUILD and then sending it to us? ![]()

We have some problems with the new automake (1.10)... Downgrade to automake 1.9 and it will work. We are currently investigating in this issue, but there is no solution until now...

I dont know what you mean... afaik the kde screensavers get installed with the kdemod-kdeartwork package...

Thx for the pointer... I am currently on a travel, so this will be updated later this week, maybe next week...
