Is it possible to get Krita without install KOffice?
Guys, what image program do you use in KDE to replace Gimp?
Offline
I found Krita very limited and it was crashing all the time the last time I tried. And in fact I don't want to replace gimp. You're surely know that you CAN use gtk(2) apps within KDE, don't you?! ;-)

Installed qt-enhanced pgkbuild version. Seems to be helping.. but kopete segfaults, clicking on system icon I get "malformed url system:/"

I would use GIMP. Krita is not yet a replacement.

Completely agree.

back again,
my girlfriend is back from indonesia, so i was busy over the last days
qdlaty: the last svn update was 11 days ago, and i will update today to the latest changes... kdelibs should compile with automake 1.9, i had no problems here...
jinn: did you install the whole kdemod group? installing kdemod by fetching single packages will always end in a small disaster, trust me also notice that kopete needs some stuff from /community ...
i am currently building a proper qt package which will be uploaded soon... svn will also be updated today

@funkyou,
Thank you for your tip. But I think the whole idea with kdemod is that one can install single packets instead of groups of packets from kde. It could anyway very well be as you say.
This is the backtrace i got from the crash:

What does kopete need from community? I thought the dependancies would automatically fix that if It needed some packets.

They are not true dependencies: kopete should work without them, but not with all the features:
echo "ATTENTION Kopete:"
echo "----------"
echo "The Kopete jabber module has been compiled with support for jingle..."
echo " "
echo "To use Jabber, please install ortp, speex, glib2, libjingle and expat."
echo " "
echo "# pacman -S ortp glib2 expat speex libjingle"
echo " "
echo "JABBER WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THESE PACKAGES !!!"
echo "YOU NEED THE LATEST LIBJINGLE FROM /COMMUNITY (CURRENTLY 0.13)"
echo " "
echo "This version has experimental support for ortp versions higher than 0.7.1."
echo "Please report any errors or bugs with jabber or jingle..."
echo "----------"
echo "The Kopete-Reloading-Kit is included. You can activate it in the prefs,"
echo "and themes are available in /opt/kde/share/apps/kopete/images/"

I see. But I dont use jabber. Only msn and yahoo. So kopete doesnt need those packets in my case.

jinn,
what you say about single packages is true, but kde needs a set of packages to operate smoothly. the kdemod-group is the current minimal install and i think its very ok, because there will be only a minimum set of apps/libs installed. everything further is modular...
i dont know whats going on with your kopete. are you using some 3rd party plugins or skins/$whatever? please try a little bit around with that stuff, and also with your accounts.

May I ask the official position on the kpdf package? kpdf will be dropped or it will cohesist with kpdf2? Thanks in advance.
Offline
I'll ask Dunkelstern about kpdf2. In my opinion kpdf should not be dropped, but kpdf2 will replace kpdf upon installing it and vice versa, so we can have both ones available. maybe we will provide kpdf2 as the default, but as said before, i will talk to dunkelstern about that and what he thinks about.

thank you.. Finally fixed it.. I dont really know what the problem was but, I totally removed kopete, also the kopeterc. For some reason running pacman with the flags -Rns where n stands for nosave.. but it did not remove kopeterc, removed it manually this time and it worked.

Something is wrong with one kdelibs patches - I managed to compile regular kdelibs while I'm stuck with a function-definition is not allowed here before '{' token
One of packages installed after kdelibs had to break this compilation. But which one??
--EDIT---
Seem to me that kdelibs-3.5.6-execute_feedback.patch breaks the compilation. Why it was OK before...
--EDIT2--
kdelibs from SVN trunk 56 compile without problems even with the problematic patch.
Thanks for upgrade.

n option removes only global configuration files, not custom settings in you home

I found out the real reason my kopete was crashing.. After deleting the kopeterc and setting the new settings again, I noticed that kopete started crashing again. This was because of the kopete-reloading-kit. I chose the same theme and it seemed to be working just fine, but when restarting the computer and logging into kopete I got the same problem. Now running kopete without the reloading-kit theme and works just fine.

pressh,
hm, we have a patch included for superkaramba that should make the xmms dependency obsolete. I will check about the gtk dependency...
