funkyou, you are right, I was too quick in my judgments - kicker failed to build without unsermake but kdebase went flawless. And so far I had no problems with it.

mata_svada,
...and then imagine an update, for example the official packages get updated before kdemod... this could result in a broken kde, so i dont think that we will ever do this... however, you could do it for yourself if it bothers.
Well yes, I could. I allready have some modified PKGBUILDs which I'm using myself (basically standard kdelibs and kdebase which provide kdemod-kdelibs, kdemod-kdebase and kdemod-kdebase-kicker) and it's working fine.

I've found a bug... I've installed superkaramba from kdemod, but it's complains aboud libxmms missing - I don't use xmms and was wondering if it's possible to remove this dependency by default or at least add it to dependences of the package...
You made a great work creating KDEmod

Hi, there
The feature list of KDEmod is so exciting. But I don't see the KNetworkManager in the packages list or planned features. I tried KNetworkManager in Kubuntu and it works pretty well.
Will it be integrated into KDEmod in the future?
Offline
You can install KNetworkManager - it's in the repository and there is no need to include it in KDEmod...

Your the 3rd person experiencing this who has posted (including me). kdemod uses a patch so libxmms isn't needed but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. Maybe it was forgotten in the newest superkaramba package. For now I installed xmms but I hope this will get fixed in next release.
Version Installed: kdemod/kdemod-kdeutils-superkaramba 3.5.6-2
If I had a previous version in my cache I would check the last one which worked

want a modular and tweaked KDE for arch? try kdemod

Ok, one question... Does someeone experience the following errors (on KDEmod or vanilla) when starting konqueror for example. I found this when my krfb sessions crashed, so krfb triggers this too:
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8: undefined symbol: PKCS7_content_free
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8: undefined symbol: OpenSSL_add_all_algorithms
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8: undefined symbol: OPENSSL_add_all_algorithms
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8: undefined symbol: OpenSSL_add_all_algorithms_conf
You can find this message either in .xsession-errors (please take a look) or when you start konqueror from a terminal and go into the preferences and ssl settings, for example... Could someone also check if connecting via krdc to a KDEmod or KDE system works???
I already rebuild kdelibs, kdebase and kdeaddons, but its still there...
Thanks

I do have those errors with konqueror launched via the command line and after checking the cryptography tab of konq's preferences. Using kdemod only.

I also get these errors using (more or less) vanilla kdelibs and kdebase.

Can someone check if this also happens with the official Arch KDE packages?
I searched a bit around, but found no solution until now. Already tried various suggestions and rebuilt kdebase, kdelibs, kdeaddons, qt, qca, qca-tls and kgpg, but no go...
EDIT: okidoki, happens on plain kde too...

a somewhat bigger update
GENERAL CHANGES:
- improved safely remove/media eject dialogs and feedback (now with fancy status bar)
- added the otr encryption plugin to kopete and various other fixes
- removed superkarambas xmms dependency again (needed an additional patch for qt)
- added subversion support to kdesdk (thanks to Fede)
- rebuild kdebase & kdelibs (fixes weird krfb connection crash)
- added unsermake to kdebase makedepends
- removed kpdf2 from repo (sorry, but as Dunkelstern said before, theres nothing really new and the xml files it generates are enerving, and i think the same... for those who want to keep using it we will provide a PKGBUILD in AUR)
- disabled kpersonalizer on first startup (so our font settings will not be overwritten)
CHANGES FOR KONQUEROR (more infos here):
- improved offline web browsing
- improved web browsing for low-bandwidth connections
- improved detection of cross-domain requests
- referer-urls are not sent cross-domain (configurable)
- removed smooth scrolling patch (was just too slow on many sites, even on a 3.4Ghz DualCore)

1) Thank you.. superkaramba's dependency on xmms is gone again
2) I for one am also happy the kpdf2 is not the preferred app over kpdf (damn updates kept bugging me to install kpdf2 all the time)
3) The Eject/unmount progress bar is a great idea, I like it.
As always.. your hard work is appreciated !!

SVN for kdebase is missing the kdebase-3.5.6-kdemod-color-scheme.patch file and kdeaddons missing kdeaddons-3.5.6-httpslave-r2.diff.

Sadly, but after this update pressing back and forward while browsing http with konqueror became even more painful than before (it was slower than Opera and Firefox even before update). Small images in phpBB forums take forever to load.
Maybe others experience similar things ?

Have you disabled IPV6 for KDE? If not place this at the end of your /etc/profile.d/kde.sh file:
export KDE_NO_IPV6=TRUE
It will speed up Konqueror a bunch.

when i want to install k3b i always get
Fehler: Kann Abhängigkeiten für "k3b" nicht auflösen ("sox" ist nicht in Paketliste enthalten)
Fehler: Konnte Vorgang nicht vorbereiten (Kann Abhängigkeiten nicht erfüllen)
:: k3b Benötigt sox
but i cant find sox
dunno if this depends on kdemod

Roughly how much of a performance increase can be expected?

When i used konqueror, installing pdnsd brought me a LOT more speed... The problem is: Imagine a site with 100 pictures. When you access it with konqueror, it will start a I/O slave for every picture and each of those I/O slaves will make its own DNS request, thus making the whole thing slow... Opera and Firefox are far better concerning this, as they have their own DNS cache and do connection keep-alives... Here is some more info about pdns: english, german (more detailed)
I'm rather new to archlinux, and out of curiosity I have given kdemod a try.
First impression: quite impressive, especially as far as speed is concerned!
However, there is one strange thing I cannot explain:
On kde-look.org, when I click on a link, nothing happens, I can't navigate. Really strange, as browsing seems to work OK on other sites, and kde-look.org behaves normally in firefox... Am I missing something? (I even deleted my konqueror dir in home, but to no avail.)
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.
No problem here, kde-look works as expected...

Yup. Even with the default configuration, this made things even better. I mean, Konqueror is now as fast as Firefox or Opera on my machine. I'm very, very happy. Thanks.

Well I just installed kdemod and I'm liking it, but I can't get my media buttons on my keyboard to control the sound. I have kmix running and I have have set the global keyboard shortcuts but they still don't do anything, does anybody have any ideas here? Also, not really a problem but does anybody know of a qt or kde based mpd client? Thanks for any help. I will continue to play with kdemod and see how it goes, I've been using xfce4 and gtk apps for so long, its quite different.

kmp is a qt based mpd client, not sure if there are others
for your multimedia keys, read the following in the wiki:

I have exactly the same problem since 1 or 2 weeks.
before, it worked well and it is just on this website and no problem with firefox !!!

I did have the same, yesterday, but with KDE-apps. Maybe logout and log in again. Not sure if it's fixed (I'm at work now).
