Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Sorry, i do not have the time currently to build more kde modules, but i will try to include some more stuff when 3.5.6 is out... I placed kdetoys on my list smile

once:
Do you mean this: http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/kdereview/ ?
well, as stated above i do not have the time now to build some more apps/modules, and i think i will only include things which are in the official distribution... So if you want something from svn, please build it for yourself...

Maintaining the PKGBUILDs (especially building the first version of a splitted package) is a somewhat hard and time consuming job, so if you want to help me, just make some PKGBUILDs for things which are not yet included... This would save me a lot of time, because maintaining completed PKGBUILDs is much easier...

Thx

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

update - added some patches to

-enable full font hinting by default
-make kdesu less verbal and prettier
-fix systray flickering when a new icon is added
-improve the systray sorting algorithm
-improve kompmgr (but its still unstable)

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

hi guys,
khotkeys doesn't work here. it gives:

khotkeys
ERROR: Communication problem with khotkeys, it probably crashed.

i've already removed the configuration files, so i guess that's not the problem. i'd love to get khotkeys to work, as i use it for my multimedia keys...

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

hi,

there is a bug in the current superkaramba package. in main, the superkaramba package kan live without xmms. the kdemod superkaramba package can be installed when no xmms is around, but it doesn't run...

superkaramba: error while loading shared libraries: libxmms.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

there is a patch for this which is now in main, following a bugreport, which happens to be from me 8)

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Well, i had a creative burst today, so i made a small page for it...

I am searching for someone who helps me out a little bit with testing and maintaining packages, mainly for the localizations (easy but time-consuming job)...

There are also plans to include more features like the strigi desktop search (which already has evolved into a powerful beast of its own wink ) or the baghira sidebar for konqueror and providing 2 separate package groups, one lightweight base and one full-fledged KDE installation with additional features (like strigi)...

If someone has some time left (once every KDE release) to help me out a little bit, just send me a pm... I think this is a opportunity to make KDE rock even more on Arch and to include latest stuff and features which are easy available only on bigger distributions...

If you have any ideas, patches you want to include, PKGBUILDs or whatever, don't hesitate and drop me a line smile

The KDEmod website is available here: http://www.kdemod.ath.cx/

BTW: The old repo is yet available, but it will be closed soon. I dont know if someone uses it, so be sure to update your pacman.conf...

quite a burst you got there... it's a fine looking webpage ;-)
i think i can help now and then, on an on-off base - i think asking here would help.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Hi, when I run kompare from the kdemod-kdesdk package, I have red outlined squares instead of icons on the left side.

I was just wondering if I was the only one getting this? If not then I'd have to say the culprit is most likely an invalid --prefix= while ./configure was run.

Thanks!

It was a rather small burst... Developing websites was my job for about 6 years and this site is very hackish and fast-made, you better dont look at the code (especially the css) wink

Thanks for your offering to help me out a bit. I will send you a pm or post here when i need help with something. This will happen soonest some days (maybe weeks) after the release of 3.5.6, as i am on vacation for about 1 month and there is no internet access available.  So KDEmod 3.5.6 will be delayed a bit... There is also QT 3.3.7 in the pipeline and i have to check when it will be included in the official repos, because this requires a complete rebuild of KDE and nearly all QT Apps (have already tested that)... So the small delay might be a good thing...

This is a known bug in kompare... I have uploaded a rebuilt version of kdesdk to the repo, which contains all aps/modules. The former package version contained only a small part of kdesdk, and i think its better to deliver the full version or a full splitted version... I will split it up again when i have some time left...

btw: I have splitted and uploaded kdedu and its already available at the repo.... Next step will be kdetoys and kdegames...

The patch only changes the lengthy info text to a shorter one, but not the information what app will be started etc... So in my opinion, its not a disadvantage.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Hi all,

kdemod requires qt-enhanced >= 3.3.7, where to get it? i'm looking for on repo and the version is 3.3.6!

pacman output:

# pacman -S kdemod
:: group kdemod:
    kdemod-arts kdemod-kde-common kdemod-kdeaddons kdemod-kdebase kdemod-kdegraphics kdemod-kdelibs kdemod-kdemultimedia kdemod-kdenetwork kdemod-kdepim
    kdemod-kdeutils qt-enhanced
    Install whole content? [Y/n] y
error: unresolvable dependencies:

Hi there,

this was  an error i have been noticed some minutes ago... Its already fixed smile so just update your packages list once again with pacman -Suy and it should work...

I am currently building the packages for QT 3.3.7, but i have to wait for the arch devs to release the new version, as every QT app needs to be recompiled with that update... Seems that i have mixed the kdelibs package with  the new version, sorry for that

Doesn't the revision updates the r in the M.m.r preserve binary compatibility  :?: If it's exact, there is no need to recompile Qt dependents apps  :?:

Some days ago i built QT 3.3.7, installed it and after doing that KDE could not start up... It was an error saying something about "_PROGRESS_BAR". So i recompiled kdelibs and kdebase for 3.3.7 and after that it worked, but there were also Amarok and KTorrent giving me the same error... At first i thought it has something to do with the patches i applied, but these are just 3.3.7-versions of the ones used in 3.3.6, so that should not be the cause...
