I got a problem when updating...
:: Retrieving packages from kdemod... failed downloading /repo/current/x86_64/libotr-3.0.0-2.pkg.tar.gz from kdemod.ath.cx: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found failed downloading /repo/current/x86_64/kdemod-kdenetwork-kopete-3.5.6-8.pkg.tar.gz from kdemod.ath.cx: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found error: failed to retrieve some files from kdemod
I'm using pacman 2.9.8-4
Ok, that's just stupid of pacman. Version 3.x renamed the packages to something like kdemod-kdenetwork-kopete-3.5.6-8-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz.
I will create links to the old names asap.
Thanks for error report!
Edit: funkyou is not online currently but i can not create the links via ftp, so i'll have to wait a bit
All of you which have updated (because you could if you have pacman3 installed) please update kopete again, there was a weird symbol loading error, it's now fixed.
Edit2: The files are now linked to their old names, please could anyone test if it works now with pacman 2.x?

64 bit, pacman 2.9.8, and it can't see any of the updated files. In fact, all I've seen for a few days is:
:: kdemod-kdegraphics-kpdf: local (3.5.6-3) appears to be newer than repo (kdemod/3.5.6-2)
:: kdemod-kdegraphics-ksnapshot: local (3.5.6-2) appears to be newer than repo (kdemod/3.5.6-1)
Clearly the stuff is in the repos, cause I looked. Hmmm???

Hmm. I have a problem with my menu. The button disapeared and instead Kopete is now there where my menu button used to be.

Maybe it has already been asked, but I would like to know, which package I have to install in order to install all the screensavers which I am used to have at my disposal from Kubuntu and SuSE.
I was not yet able to figure out how it is named - or if it is available at all.
I am guessing that xscreensaver is what you are after?
Steve.

Sorry, but it's not xscreensaver. The KDE screensaver is another thing and they're completely missing with my KDEmod install, as already said.

Would love to see it, if that's possible!!!

How do you mean that? Should I post a screenshot of what I mean what is missing? Or do you want to see the screensavers included as well?

@skottish:
Those 2 warnings are because I had a problem with pkg-releases (we definately have to find a way to make this work better).
Were there files updated in the last month? Or didn't it update anything?
Why is pacman 3 not in current anyways. It's perfectly stable and much faster than 2.x.
But I'm afraid to downgrade, i don't know if it screws up the package database then.

For screensaver install kdemod-kdeartwork
Kdeartwork provides additional KDE themes, screensavers, sounds, wallpapers, widget styles, and window styles.

Thanks. pacman -Qs screensaver did not point it out

Honestly I can't remember the last time I got a KDEMod update. But I may just join the modern world and update to Pacman 3.0.

Hiya. I've been getting that error for a few days. What is the problem? It started with pacman 2.xx. I upgraded to 3.xx and no difference. Thanks!

Pacman 3.0.3-1 did the trick.
Now, what the hell just happened?!?!? It seems that there is a serious performance increase here. Is this from QT or KDE or both?

pacman -S kdemod doesn't work anymore. It says that it's not in the synced db. I already did a SYU.

I just upgraded and got a internal pacman error (which I have reported) first time I tried to update/upgrade (it's all fine now tho).

What kind of compiler flags you use to build your packages ?
I've noticed that regular KDE crashes the same way so I'm thinking about going back to KDEmod.

If you are on 64bit, the repo will be fixed in a short time...
Today I decided to install kde but I have a big problem.
As you can see in the screenshot there is a big Volume OSD in my screen that never disappears :S . I have GNOME but installed Kdemod.
Hm, seems like kmilo... Well, at least you came further than me with it as i never got it to work or display properly... I dont know whats happening here. Do you use some special keys or something? Try to disable or restart the kmilo service in kcontrol and look what happens then...

I am using the standard flags for i686. Dont know what dunkelstern uses on 64bit, but i think he also left it unchanged...

hiya funkyou...
i think you skipped my issue a few posts up? i cannot access the kdemod repos at all. 32bit here.
Thanks.
Here is what a pacman -Syu looks like. has been like this for a few days now, on both pacman 2.xx and 3.xx

darweth,
how does your repo line in pacman.conf looks like?
it should be this one (for i686):
[kdemod]
Server = http://kdemod.ath.cx/repo/current/i686
Here everything is ok...

Well, your error message seems to be a bit weird... I am still on pacman 2.9.8 and wait until 3.0.x moves to current... Maybe your db is borked somehow, i would ask/search for this error message...

I have a dell inspiron 8500 and I know that the i8k driver with kmilo is buggy. I had the same problem some time ago. The only way to stop this was to disabel kmilo, as funkyou said. I don't know if the problem is still present though.

Well, I also (though accidentally) removed and reinstalled pacman totally. Not sure if that is relevant or not but I still cannot access your repo whatsoever. Same error.
Well, I found this little interesting page: http://forums.itresource.com.au/showthread.php?p=384
It doesn't provide any way to fix anything but it is an HTTP status message related to some client error, perhaps. I am not sure if there is anything that can be done on my end about it. It is definitely not a database error. Arrrgh. If only there were kdemod mirrors. Any clues? The sole response in the Pacman forum also suggests it seems like a server problem and not anything on my own system.

Ok, that's weird
I did not change any compiler flags since i do KDEmod but I think I am using -O3 all the way, perhaps pacman 3 supplied a new makepkg.conf, can't look for it right now (not at my PC) but I will search for the cause, as my KDE is boosted too *g*
