Do i miss something here?
Thanks!

I haven't seen anything else than 2 or 3 KDE-specific screensavers in the control center for a long time... no idea if it's kdemod's fault.

Installing kdemod-kdeartwork does the trick...

From kdeartwork-3.5.x/README:

This package contains additional

* themes,
* screensaver,
* sounds,
* wallpapers,
* widget styles and
* window styles

for KDE. We placed them into this module so that kdebase won't be too bloated.

There is a new package in /testing which is rebuilt against xscreensaver, missed this one before...

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Hey funkyou, as ever I'm enjoying kdemod but I've hit a snag when setting up a printer. It will build the printer driver database but after selecting one and hitting next I get:

Unable to load the requested driver:
/usr/share/cups/model/gutenprint/5.0/C/stp-escp2-rx620.5.0.ppd.gz(line 95): parser stack overflow

This happens if I try to use a similar driver as well.

The thing is, I can still print (which makes me think it's kdemod and not cups, the last update to cups actually got my printer working under linux again:D) but kde doesn't give me any of the options for the printer any more. The printer is an Epson RX620, but as this happened with other drivers I guess it's not specific to that printer.

I had exactly the same problem. You can always set the printer in your browser, http://localhost:631, from there it works perfectly. I have seen this in the official kde bug tracker too.

Hooray for the trampolin cows !

Another thing, whenever I want to suspend to ram or disk using kpowersave it tells me it is unable to use dcop to unmount any external media, any idea where the problem lies ?

I tend to change quality settings on a job to job basis so setting it up through cups each time is a pain, hopefully it'll get fixed soon in official kde smile

I recall KPDF in KDE 3.5.7 got the ability to view http://www.mozilla.org/press/nytimes-firefox-final.pdf properly. Has KPDF2 been updated yet with these enhancements?

2 suggestions for this...

1. try to run "foomatic-cleanup"

2. according to this, install the printer through the cups interface, then check if its available in kcontrol

@funkyou: may I point you to my following thread http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=33199 ?
Please check if it is maybe kdemod-related. It's serious matter for me as I cannot use any removable media stuff. Thanks.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with 3.5.7 (I haven't tried it yet. 64bit), but it would be nice to have the GMail patch from this thread if it is:

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Thank you for your work. Kdemod works fine now (tested some time before, but i had a konsole bug).

A small correction for the kdemod site:
http://kdemod.ath.cx/features.html#packages
All stuff in KDEtoys is missing the "kdemod-" part. Not good if you want to copy and paste it.

And kmix doesn't change the systray button if it gets muted.

And could you the userlist to the kdm theme? It looks nice, but i miss the userlist.

We have included the patch into 3.5.7... Updated x86_64 packages will be available soon...

The package listing has been fixed, but it is out of date anyway and i am too lazy to update it...

I noticed that Kmix does not change its icon when muting. It works when you move the volume slider a bit up or down after muting... Thats weird, but this issue is gone on 3.5.7. Move to the testing repo or wait some days...

Browse www.kde-look.org . If you find something you like, search for it w/ pacman, or have a look at AUR.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

@all 64Bit users: I'm starting the upload for the 64Bit packages into testing now. I'm using the 3.5.7 packages right now on my machine and it seems to work all good. Nothing broken anymore. smile

Please be patient, it may last some hours until all is up.

Sorry for the bad repo for some weeks.

use the following in your pacman.conf to use the packages from testing:

[kdemod]
Server = http://kdemod.ath.cx/repo/testing/x86_64

I'll be moving the packages in some days if there are no critical bugs. I'll do that in sync with funkyou moving his packages out of testing.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to install kdemod on a brand new archlinux installation but unfortunately I can't sad

I did edited /etc/pacman.conf and added those 2 lines:

[kdemod]
Server = http://kdemod.ath.cx/repo/current/x86_64

after that I did pacman -Suy and got the following result:

kdemod is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
local database is up to date

if I issue the command pacman -S kdemod now I get:

error: 'kdemod': not found in sync db

the weird thing is if I list the content of /var/lib/pacman/kdemod. every packages are there

any suggestions ?

thanks in advance

Blizz4rd

Wrong timing I guess :\ I tried to install it while the files are moving... will try again in a few hours.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

@Blizz4rd: The "current" 64Bit repo is broken... Sorry for that, you either could use "testing" when the files are online or wait some days until we finally move testing to current.

Sorry for the inconvenience, was my fault.

Edit: Which version of Pacman are you using? 2.x or 3.0.x? Because all repos are build with the current Pacman 3.0.4.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

I have edited the kdm-theme and added an userlist. You can get it here:
http://h0st.mine.nu/~pawlak/arch/KDEmod … ist.tar.gz

I changed the login.png and KDEmod-kdm.xml. You can add it to kde-mod, if you like.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

dunkelstern,

I'm just now trying Arch linux (for about 2 hours now).  I'm on x86-64 and was trying to use kdemod (I'm used to the so-called "split packages" from Gentoo instead of the "monolithic packages" that Arch's official tree seems to have).  Through some kind of luck, I see that you updated the testing repository yesterday to fix the bug I was having when trying to use "current".  However, now I don't see the file 'http://kdemod.ath.cx/repo/testing/x86_6 … .db.tar.gz'...

--10:59:21--  http://kdemod.ath.cx/repo/testing/x86_64/kdemod.db.tar.gz
           => `/var/lib/pacman/kdemod.db.tar.gz.part'

Connecting to kdemod.ath.cx|87.106.61.112|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 404 Not Found
10:59:21 ERROR 404: Not Found.

error: failed to synchronize kdemod:
error: 'kdemod': not found in sync db

I went and browsed the directory myself, and sure enough it's not there.  I'm not yet knowledgeable enough to know how pacman structures things, so I'm wondering if something else is going on?  I was able to sync the 'current' version, but of course ran into that same bug that's already been reported in this thread.

Thanks for any help!
