I've got this weird problem with kopete which doesn't seem to go away. It's there since 3.5.6 packages. When I start kopete for the first time during a KDE session (for example right after log-in) kopete crashes upon receiving a new message. Actually it crashes when I open any chat window, either upon arrival of a new message or when I try to msg someone.
Kopete crashes completely and needs to be relaunched, after which everything works ok.
I use two protocols: gadu-gadu and jabber. Plugins: history. Emoticons: gg70. Style: Clean.
Any ideas what might be wrong? Or at least how to track down the problem?

Hmm, no problem here. See if it's also with a clean configuration (eg start it as another user, or mv the configuration to a temporary place). if it doesn't crash, there is something in the configfiles which causes the crash. Maybe the developers want to know about it to fix it ;-)

Oi.
A little thing that bugs me in kdemod is a small line over konqueror's sidebar. It disappears if I turn sidebar's "show configuration button" on and off, but then reappears if I open konqueror again. That's not the case in vanilla arch's kde distribution.

The latest patch is for Qt 3.3.7, so I really hope that this will work with Qt 3.3.8 as well...
What do you think?I'll take a look at it, thanks
I've been use the qt-immodule patch for quite some time now, although I"ve been told it creates some binary compatibility issues, which so far I haven't encounter any. You can search for qt-x11-immodule-unified-qt3.3.8-20070321-gentoo.diff.bz2, the one I'm using. I'm not sure if there's a newer version available.

How can one turn off rounded-edged tooltips. The file tooltip (the one that appears when you hover your mouse over a file in konqueror) is particulary hidious.
Other than that, KDEmod is great.

Thanks, Si! When I was still using Ubuntu, I ran into some problems with Skype, but these were definitely related to SCIM. I have never had any problems with Uim. Where can I get the PKGBUILD of qt-enhanced, so I can create my own package? Sorry, I'm pretty new to these things... How do I apply this patch?

It's a patch, added by KDEmod, afaik not configurable. Maybe this can be changed of course. I oppose removing the patch, as I think it's nice, and others might agree. Well, it's a matter of taste, so making it configurable would be my preferred option. Would need someone who can code, of course.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see rounded edges. But smooth ones and not these ugly pixelated aliased ones. With all do respect, I can't imagine anyone wanting the round-edged tooltips the way they look right now. I would prefer to see them removed. But again, that might be only me.

I agree with the antialiasing etc, but that's I guess just not possible in KDE 3.x/Qt3.x. We'll have to wait for KDE 4 ;-)

Here's the PKGBUILD for the most recent version of Uim. It compiles with full Qt support. This is my first PKGBUILD, so use it at your own risk. The immodule-qt patch has to be applied to Qt in order to use it.

Silly question, but what is KSmserver and what does KSmserver theme manager do?

Activate the default theme and take a look at your logout dialog...

We are quite busy right now and a new build will come soon...
Over the last days i investigated a little bit in how a default theme could look like... As many users seem to like the screenshots on our website, i have made this one so far:
Its a heavily modified version of a grey theme found at kde-look and i like it very much. This would require only one additional dependency to be installed: kdestyle-domino...
My plans are so far:
- Include domino as default style with the settings/colors shown above
- Make our tango icon theme the default icon theme
I dont know if users like the kicker layout shown in the screenshot, but i think i will keep KDE's default layout. The whole theme stuff is of course only enabled on a fresh install/user and can be easily disabled or uninstalled...
So, what do you think about this?

looks great... Most of the ppl here can customize their look anyway, so please go ahead and make the default KDE look a bit more slick ;-)

I think your theme is great and it is a great idea to have it as a default theme for kdemod.
Thank you !

Having probs with Trasnparency.
I set it to abotu half for no active windows.
Minimize and then maxamize an app and it stays transparent and will not come out of it till i reminimize and maximize about 5 times?
Pretty damn annoying.
Is it a bug with kde-mod or kde?

How do I activate ksmt themes? If I check the box in kcontrol the box gets unchecked everytime I quit.
I am running kdemod-testing withoit kickoff

If you mean the transparency settings found in kcontrol --> desktop --> window behavior -> translucency:
This is a very old and known issue because KDE's kompmgr is experimental/unstable/unmaintained (use any combination of these)
Better use beryl or compiz if you want to have eyecandy...
