Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Damn, very nice build. The new theme is perfect for me and looks great.

I have one question smile ... how can I use my multimedia keys (preferably without editing conf files). I have tried going to Control Centre -> Regional & Accessabilities -> Input Actions and making a new action but when the popup asks for what key to use, I press my volume buttons and it dont show up -- it only accepts actual keys.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks & Congrads on the build big_smile

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

To get multimedia keys working, you need to first map each keycode to a key symbol. You can find out the keycode by running xev command. Here are a few key symbols KDE makes use of: XF86AudioLowerVolume, XF86AudioRaiseVolume, XF86AudioMute.
You need to use the command xmodmap to do the mapping, read the xmodmap man page for info on how to use it.

Oh I am a complete idiot tongue ... I went into KDE Control Centre -> Keyboard Layout -> Selected Dell Latitude Layout and clicked apply ... my multimedia buttons worked flawlessly now big_smile and to think all I had to do was select a layout >.<.

Thanks.

kdestyle-domino-0.4-4 seems buggied with scrollbars... I had to recompile it by myself.

Yes, Dunkelstern did a patch for it to solve the broken scrollbars in GTK apps... I have running it here without problems. The only thing that has been changed is that the scrollbars are no more rounded.

This is only a temporary fix, as its a gtk-qt-engine thing, and Dunkelstern already submitted a proper patch to solve it. When this patch gets applied, we will remove the temporary domino fix.

want a modular and tweaked KDE for arch? try kdemod

@ funkyou / dunkelstern:

Maybe you guys should post a "last comment" here, point to your new forum and close this thread here? Just to avoid the confusion with people (like me wink ) asking stuff here and meanwhile it was already asked and maybe solved in your new forum?

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Hello everybody,
How can I disable bold font for symlinks on desktop? It looks very ugly for me and I prefer normal, italic font.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

At the request of funkyou, this forum thread is being closed.
He said it was too confusing having all these posts in one topic. He has set up a whole forum for kdemod, with related topics.

He requests that further discussion regarding kdemod continue at the following site:
