CRITICAL: system hangs after mounting cdrom

I have a major problem! Whenever i try to mount a cd or dvd, either from a terminal or from within KDE, the whole system hangs and i have to do a hard reset to restart. But I can mount usb drives etc... I have no idea where the problem lies and there isn't any feedback from the system. Can anyone help me?

My fstab line:

/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom udf,iso9660 user,unhide,ro,noauto 0 0

P.S: When the system hangs, i cannot eject the cd. Maybe that means that it was mounted and then the system froze?

Re: CRITICAL: system hangs after mounting cdrom

UPDATE: i booted with the HAL daemon enabled and could mount a cdrom. But after the third mount/umount operation, it froze up again and after restarting it started freezing whenever i tried to mount the cdrom. I hate it when the system freezes up!
