E17 Packing Volunteer

Is there anyone up for the challenge of making pkgbuilds for e17 that actually work. I'll host up a repo that gets updated twice a week if we could get someone to build good pkgbuilds.

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

the packagebuilds from aur are working...only thing is, that you have to build  the packages by yourself...

Search the forums for the fouiney repo, fouinix still maintains his E17 repository.

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

Long time no see

I am back in the Linux world ...again....have been quite busy at work for a while now, but now I have vacation  big_smile

I used to build pkgbuilds for E17, sometimes together with Founix
since I have been away, doesn't founix update anymore?

anyway, I will soon be making new pkgbuilds as soon as I get a chance to catch up with all the changes, I do have a script hanging around in these forums, that will make all packages automatically, but one must have the pkgbuilds first big_smile

see ya later

CyberTron: you can get pkgbuilds from Aur, they are pretty good and up to date.

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

Alright here's what's going on... Fouinix is still updating but his system seems to be massively outdated. Right now Enlightenment has dependencies (missing in the packages) for libxss and libxdamage, and it is compiled against the old version of OpenSSL... I'm going to PM him, this is quite irritating.

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

I was actually going to pm fouinix and ask if he needed any help, but ti's been 4 months since he's logged on the bb, and 1 month since the repo's been updated. In his blog he talks about some gripes with the arch community, I'm wondering if anyone has an email addy for him.

Try this - lesfouines at wanadoo dot fr - that's the one he used on the AUR ML in April this year.

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

Hi
Excuse me for my latest reply sad
Actually I'm very busy (construction at home)

I do not have time to update the repo. If Cybertron has time to make the packages, we can try to arrange together to put them on the repository.

I well know that PKGBUILD and I think that there are some missing dependencies, in fouiny_repo there are some "old" packages like emblem for example that now are changed in cvs, so it is necessary to rebuild that PKGBUILD ..

personally I upgrade every day my e17 packages and following CIA enlightenment rss I can update PKGBUILD, if someone want I can give him my PKGBUILD.

If you speak italian try to read at my personal blog where I explain how I mantain constantly up to date my e17 packages.

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

I would try to update the repo this evening or at worst before the weekend.

I did not follow the last innovations of e17, I must add the dependencies libxss and libxdamage, that's right ?

Yep, and the stuff all needs to be recompiled against the current SSL version.

(When did you last update your system BTW?)

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

I hope this gets picked up. I've got an interest in this wm and would love to play with it. I'm afraid I'm still having to look in the linux phrase book for basic commands still...
There isn't a lot of documentation for this wm - i'll keep googling and follow this thread.

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

frankly, E17 is not for new users.  It requires quite a bit of manual work (eaps, etc), and is in constant dev.

OTOH, if you learn E17, you'll be comfortable with a toolkit and development (idealogy??) that may actually be used some day.  Maybe.

wink
I really like e17, actually tongue
i stopped using it because it was too heavy, and not enough themes available.

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

I follow directions pretty well big_smile  I've done 3 gentoo installs and on different machines and configured them to work well. So, I'm not afraid of the command line. I'm just not familiar with working with CVS. I usually stay within the distro's packages - does that make sense?
Anyway. I think I'll follow along on this forum and compile it myself. Gentoo has e17  in portage but it failed to compile when I tried it. Plus, I'd really like to use it on arch. I like the tidy configuration file for arch. Just open up nano one time and can about do everything. Gotta love it;)

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

I suggest you to use my PKGBUILDs (on AUR) that are easy to update (just use versionpkg instead of makepkg). I think all the deps are ok.
you have to build in this order:
imlib2-cvs
eet-cvs
edb-cvs
imlib2_loaders-cvs
epeg-cvs
evas-cvs
embryo-cvs
ecore-cvs
edje-cvs
emotion-cvs
ewl-cvs
epsilon-cvs
esmart-cvs
e-cvs
engrave-cvs
e_utils-cvs
examine-cvs
enotes-cvs
etk-cvs
equate-cvs
evfs-cvs
entropy-cvs
entice-cvs
engage-cvs
enterminus-cvs
elicit-cvs
eclair-cvs
entrance-cvs
e_modules-cvs

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

There is an e17 package in the community repository. It's maintained by Snowman.

# pacman -S e

I'm using it at the moment, since fouinix have not updated his build for some time. I would be great if someone could help him out.

Why isn't fouinix e17 stuff in the AUR?

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

Because it would confict with the E17 packages there, which are in the same group, built from different sources, and use different naming conventions.

Re: E17 Packing Volunteer

I put up a new e17 repo, it's hosted on a fat pipe, updated 2-8 times a month depending on cvs activity and time available, they are based on mOLOk 's pkgbuilds in AUR, so if you want changes/additions, bug him, and it'll automatically get included in next update.
