Help in setting up Wake-On-Lan with bonding interface

I currently have a bonding interface bond0 that binds to interfaces, net0 and net1, to connect to the network I setup with netctl. It is working flawlessly. I am now trying to setup Wake-On-Lan hopefully to be able to wake up my desktop computer remotely and access it via SSH with my laptop. I have installed ethtool as well for query.

When I run #ethtool bond0 | grep Wake-on I get nothing.

But when I run #ethtool net0 | grep Wake-on I get:

Supports Wake-on: pumbg
        Wake-on: g

Likewise #ethtool net1 | grep Wake-on yields:

Supports Wake-on: pumbg
        Wake-on: g

I can actually wake my desktop with my laptop when I'm at home in the same LAN so I can verify Wake-On-Lan is working. I just need help to set it up so I can wake my computer up away from home.

My idea is to create another netctl profile with static address and using either net0 or net1 interface. Is this the right approach? Or is there a way of using the bonding interface to wake the computer up?

I'm all new to this and I've read that I should also setup port forwarding in my router which I am not sure how to do.
