Re: Help getting Xorg to work Nvidia

Your xinitrc is incomplete: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xinit

And you haven't provided enough information about your card and driver for more diagnosis.

Re: Help getting Xorg to work Nvidia

Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Driver: Proprietary Nvidia https://www.archlinux.org/packages/?name=nvidia
Issue: TTY freezes

new xinitrc

#!/bin/sh
if [ -d /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d ]; then
  for f in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/*; do
    [ -x "$f" ] && . "$f"
  done
  unset f
fi

exec i3

So, does X/i3 start? Is your issue just the TTY? Have you tried the nouveau driver?

Re: Help getting Xorg to work Nvidia

Yes i3 starts. The i3 log file seems to know that the display isn't working properly as it asks if the display is working.

When using nouveau drivers x doesn't start and says it's waiting for x to accept connections followed by CPU# lockups.

Note: I will be needing the proprietary drivers working for CUDA

Re: Help getting Xorg to work Nvidia

You have two cards hence likely an Optimus system from the looks of it: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA_Optimus

Re: Help getting Xorg to work Nvidia

I only have one graphics card unless you're referring to the builtin graphics on my CPU. I will give it a go though.

Re: Help getting Xorg to work Nvidia

Yes he is, that *is* the Optimus approach and configuring it (in any way but correctly) will get you a working system.

Re: Help getting Xorg to work Nvidia

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nvidia-xrun only option that worked for me.  Github has documentation on config https://github.com/Witko/nvidia-xrun.

Re: Help getting Xorg to work Nvidia

nvidia-xrun is of course also an option even if a bit convoluted if you never intend to make use of the intel card.

If this is [SOLVED] for you, please edit the title of your thread and mark it as such.
