recently updated the kernel from 4.14.15 to 4.15.1-2 and startrd seeing a lot of debug and error messages on boot.. did not see them in the previous kernel.. and i am unable to control the brightness of the screen.. any body got a solution for this??

As of 4.15.1, the new AMD DC display stack is enabled by default for GCN2+ GPUs in the Arch kernel.  You might try disabling it to use the old display stack with the amdgpu.dc=0 kernel parameter.  I had a problem with the screen flashing intermittently, and disabling the new stack fixed it.

That seems to have solved it.. still getting some interrupts though..might not be related to this.. marking it as solved.. thnaks btw..
