Locked (cannot resume) after suspend on Dell Inspiron Pentium

Only happened after an update today. Running Gnome. No matter how I suspend (close lid or systemctl supend), the laptop freezes. Only way to revive it is to press the power button...twice...first time seems to shut the thing off and then second time boots the laptop.

I didn't have acpid installed before this started happening today. I now have that running. I've disabled the suspend with lid close and the system works perfectly. Only problem is that I cannot suspend, because it means that I'm forced to force a shut down and then reboot.

I've done lots of looking around, but haven't found any answers so far. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
