XFCE4 panel issues

just recently, XFCE4 is taking a much longer time to load and even when it does, it does not have a panel, even under the superuser.  I have no idea how this happened ... anybody know how I might be able to fix this?

Re: XFCE4 panel issues

the missing panel is probably from the weather-plugin. It's probably conflicting with glibc again. You'll have to remove it manually in ~/.config/xfce4/panel/contents.xml.

If that doesn't work try this:

pacman -Rs xfce4
pacman -S openbox

worked for me!

Re: XFCE4 panel issues

I actually posted this thread about two hours after an installation ... and after looking into it a bit more, I realized that the installation went to hell somehow, so I just took the easy-way-out n00b-style fixit ... reinstall!! big_smile

But there's one thing that I thought was very suspicious ... I noticed on a reboot (got a new kernel) that during the process of unmounting the drives, it said that / was busy and couldn't be unmounted, but it rebooted anyway.  That's very very very bad since this desktop is running XFS ... perhaps that's something that the developers should look into? tongue
