colored permissions?

Hey there,

i think what i want to do is easily done, ..somehow
well i have a command "la" in my bashrc for the command "ls -lah --color=always" .
what i want to achieve too, is that all files that have permission 644 are displayed blue, and files with another red. directories should be blue if they have perm. of 755 and red for another.

how can i achiev this?
anybody scripting profi here ? ^^

I think you'd be better of editing the source code for ls than trying to mangle with bash and alias, it could be real nightmare.

Try 'man dircolors'. Here is what I use (add/remove stuff as necessary):

# COLOR needs one of these arguments: 'tty' colorizes output to ttys, but not

Mh, this is kinda weird, becasue in KDE's konsole it does display different colors for different permissions. :?
