Plex Codecs 404

Hi all,

I just recently set up a new home server and have installed plex-media-server.  Unfortunately, I am unable to play any videos that require transcoding.  Direct play works perfectly fine.

Looking at Plex's server log, it looks like it encounters a 404 whenever it tries to download needed codecs.

Does anyone have any experience or insight with this?  I can post any/all logs that might be useful for debugging purposes.

I should maybe note that this server is replacing a server that also had Plex on it, which had no problems playing any media.  I'm really at a loss as to why it's now not working.

Thanks in advance for anyone who might help!

Re: Plex Codecs 404

Just following up, I was misguided about what was causing the problem.

Per the wik's security recommendations, I had added the 'noexec' option to /var in /etc/fstab.  This breaks functionality for Plex, so I just had to remove that parameter and everything works great now!

Re: Plex Codecs 404

I've tried many DLNA media servers for my own home network.  All of them have problems, except this one: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ums

Universal Media Server just bleepin' works and it transcodes everything perfectly as needed too.  Give it a shot.
