Keyboard Layout with disk encryption

Hi There,

I really feel bad that I have to start a topic about this but I searched everything everywhere and tried everything but it still doesn't work.

I want to change the keyboard layout for the encryption password input at boot to german.
I added

KEYMAP=de

to /etc/vconsole.conf and also tried it with de-latin1, de-latin1-nodeadkeys, with and without "" around the keymaps name.
The hooks in my mkinitcpio.conf should be alright, also tried various orders etc.

HOOKS=(base udev autodetect keyboard keymap modconf block encrypt lvm2 filesystems fsck)

I'm really out of ideas what I could try now.
