I'm mostly watching videos on Youtube via Firefox or VLC, in both I get very laggy video unless I'm running a compositor manager (such as in GNOME or standalone compton).
Does anyone can tell me if it's normal and why a compositor is required to have a fluid video? I use to run some games and in that case the video performance is better without a running compositor.
Environment:
Intel HD Graphics Sandy Bridge (2nd Gen)
Nvidia GeForce GT 520M that I use for gaming with primus
X.Org with "TearFree" "enabled" on the intel driver
