Suddenly I'm having trouble downloading new torrents. They all have similar errors:
Failed to prepare file 'xyz' Could not open file: Permission denied
Could not create directory '/storage/torrents': No such file or directory (17:14:50) Could not resume download: Could not create directory '/storage/torrents': No such file or directory -that's the parent download dir
Failed to save session torrents
It has no problems with seeding, just downloading.
It's not a general permissions issue - /storage is 777 root:root, session directory is 775 clidx:clidx and /storage/torrents is 777 clidx:clidx and rtorrent is running under my user (confirmed with top). I can also write to the directories in terminal and other apps no problem.
Although I am finding some odd behaviour, although maybe that's just because the file is incomplete, but the new download has permissions 022. If I set it to 755 and try and start the download, I get a "Resource temporarily unavailable" error. Maybe that's because I'm messing with it though.
I'm trying to figure out what changed when it started. storage is a zpool and I updated the kernel and zfs-linux-lts a few days ago though I can't pin down when rtorrent started acting up, it's close. From linux-lts 4.9.56-1 to 4.14.26-1 and zfs-linux-lts 0.7.3 to 0.7.6. Could either of these be the issue? Only affecting rtorrent though?
I run rtorrent with a tmux service file which used to be on the wiki but not anymore. When I first noticed the problem I fixed it by moving the service file from /etc/systemd/user to ~/config/systemd/user but the problem just came back without any restart of rtorrent or movement of the service file. Strange.
