I'm using XPS 13 9360. After updating gnome to 3.28, alt and ctrl keys are "stuck".
They behave as like "toggle" switches.
So, for example, hitting ctrl once and then hitting "c" input ctrl-c combination.
Even the ctrl key is not released after hitting "c". I need to hit ctrl key once more to release it.
This occurrs only in sessions on wayland. The classic mode and sessions on xorg work well without the problem.
Any idea to fix it ?

Using a Precision 5510 (Workstation Ver of XPS 15) and suffering the same issue too, in Emacs you can see if you hit Ctrl-x or anything, it shows C-s-x (I think is ctrl shift s), only gnome apps like terminal are normal, Emacs, Atom, Chromium are all totally down! So sad that new gnome didn't fix bugs but took more bugs and made my life broken...if anyone knows how to solve, save me bro! Thanks!

You may try switch to the `Xorg` session instead of `Wayland`, that works fine for me as a workaround currently!

I didn't see any reports about this issue. How do you expect the developers to fix the bug if they don't know about it?

Updated gnome-session to 3.28.0-2 this morning seems fixed this bug.

It just simply remove the `wayland` session, and now it is on `X11` by default.

Having a similar issue. For a few days now I've been noticing that whenever my system lags for a bit the keys I were typing at that moment get repeated. (Like in thiiiiiiiis sentence.) Additionally, when playing video games, I noticed that because my system was under load and would lag more often, a very common occurrence was keys getting stuck permanently. For example, the A key would get stuck and my character would be constantly moving to the left until I tapped the key again. However, today I got a more unconventional bug: my ctrl key got stuck whenever I switched apps! alt+tab, or even just using my mouse to switch focus from one app to another, in that newly focused app it would think that I was holding my ctrl key down, so scrolling turned into zooming, pressing t opened up a new tab, etc. (usual behavior when the ctrl key actually is being held down.) This I found very interesting, because I didn't even have to touch the ctrl key to trigger this. I have no idea what's actually going on in the background, but my guess is that some input layer got the signal of me pressing the ctrl key, but due to lag never received the signal of me letting go of it (and refuses to acknowledge that I have let go of it / pressed it multiple times afterwards), and so whenever I switch focus to another app (even the same app, if done multiple times) it tells that app that I'm holding down the ctrl key, even though I'm not. (I couldn't figure out how to stop it from thinking that, had to log out to reset back to normal.)
Also using Gnome 3.28 under Wayland, but the keys getting stuck in game happens in Xorg as well
