[SOLVED] VLC - blinking screen - h264

Hi,

When I open VLC, no problem.
As soon as I try to play a mkv file:
- the whole screen starts to blink
- no video
- I can hear the sound

From the console

[00007feb18c51e80] main decoder error: failed to create video output
[h264 @ 0x7feb18c577a0] get_buffer() failed
[h264 @ 0x7feb18c577a0] thread_get_buffer() failed
[h264 @ 0x7feb18c577a0] decode_slice_header error
[h264 @ 0x7feb18c577a0] no frame!

No issue with SMPlayer, so assuming this is not a codec issue nor graphic driver but specific to vlc.

My config

-Computer-
Processor: 6x AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1055T Processor
Memory: 12300MB (1797MB used)
-Display-
Resolution: 2560x1080 pixels
OpenGL Renderer: AMD Radeon (TM) RX 460 Graphics (POLARIS11 / DRM 3.23.0 / 4.15.13-1-ARCH, LLVM 6.0.0)

Using opensource drivers.

Anyone having same issue?

Solved

I had to force video output to "OpenGL", it was on default/automatic .... no clue what output it was actually using!
