Using gnome-shell 3.28.
My monitors are aligned in a non-standard but perfect for me way. I have a wireless power outlet on all of them so I can easily switch them on and off all at once. However, that makes the GPU think that I've disconnected one of them (just happens with one of them, DVI connection) and when I turn my monitors back on, one of them is black.
An easy fix is Alt+F2 -> "r" to restart gnome shell, that returns all monitors and my alignment - BUT all the windows are now on completely different places and I have to move them again where they belong. This is incredibly annoying.
Is there a way to disable monitor change detection in gnome so that it will stop thinking my monitor disconnected when in fact it simply just turned off?
